Our Team

Steve earned a Juris Doctor degree at the University Of Kansas School Of Law in 1984. Prior to beginning his immigration practice, he worked as an attorney at Kansas Legal Services in Kansas City, KS representing low-income clients. He founded his immigration office in 1996 in furtherance of his commitment to social justice. All four of his grandparents came to the United States as immigrants, giving his commitment to immigration advocacy a personal dimension. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and admitted to practice law in the state of Kansas. Although Steve has retired from the active practice of law, he continues to provide invaluable expertise to assist our clients.

Heidi earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. She is licensed in the state of Kansas and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Heidi grew up in Oaxaca, Mexico and credits this background with leading to her commitment to advocacy for immigrants from around the world. She is fluent in Spanish and passionate about welcoming immigrants and their families to the United States.

Marisela has been an assistant in our law firm for nearly 20 years. She is skilled at managing all aspects of our clients' cases and providing excellent service. She is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico and is fluent in English and Spanish.

Washington is a native of Quito, Ecuador. He is responsible for preparing client cases. Washington provides impeccable customer service to our clients by helping them understand the often confusing requirements of their case. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, Alma is a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas, and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Alma builds strong relationships with our clients. Her interpersonal skills help her best serve our clients who have experienced trauma or violence. She is dedicated to ensuring that each client receive the empathy and support that they need to achieve a successful result in their case.

Mayra's exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities make her skilled at managing all aspects of office administration. Mayra helps keep the office running efficiently and smoothly while always having time to answer client question. Mayra is bilingual in English and Spanish.
